I did better this month than I did last month and I look forward to reading more in September. Here’s what I read:
1) OVER THE FENCE BY MARY MONROE- I’ve borrowrd this book from the library several times and I think I’ve had it since…May…maybe April??? It’sthe second part in the Neighbors series and maybe it’s the author’s style of writing keeps that keeps me reading but nothing shocking or life changing happened.I think I really enjoy Monroe’s strory telling the eyes of Southern Black people.Maybe its a slow burn. On to part 3!
2) THE FAMILY ROMANOV:MURDER AND THE FALL OF IMPERIAL RUSSIA BY CANDACE FLEMING-I read this book because of an episode of Frasier where he and Niles believed they were related to the Romanovs. They find a family heirloom and find out it belonged to the family. This story was absolutely fascinating. I really enjoyed reading about how Rasputin had the ear of the tsar and his wife. He really had a lot of power to make decisions for Russia. It was fabulous reading about the family’s elegant style of living and I think I’ll read another book about this family. Any suggestions?
3) wow, no thank you BY SAMANTHA IRBY-I love all of Irby’s work. This one was no different. I enjoyed reading about how her life routine, and thought processis different now that she is married with stepkids. As a parent, I could totally relate to the pressures of keeping humans alive. There’s even a recipe included that Samantha makes for her stepchildren. The chapter on pitching a tv show was HILARIOUS and I read it three times.
