4 Thanksgiving Day Recipes I Love

It’s Thanksgiving week and I am kind of excited. Shug will be 13 on Monday!!😬🥳Last year me, the kids, and my mom spent Thanksgiving at Red Lobster and then a trip to Macy’s flagship store in Herald Square,NYC. They have a holiday lane with GORGEOUSLY decorated Christmas trees of various themes. A real must see when you visit NYC during the holidays. It was fun because we hadn’t been to the Holiday Lane in years and I wasn’t sure if my mom was going to see another holiday before she started dialysis in September ’19. Going to Macy’s during the holiday was a tradition my mom started when my brothers and I were kids. It was like a hidden treasure my mom found for us. You’d be surprised how many NYers don’t know about that floor of Macy’s.

My mom cooked every year for Thanksgiving so last year was our first time eating at a restaurant instead of home. This year, we have the accommodations to make our own feast and so my mom is cooking again! We are doing two meats( honey glazed ham and an oven roaster chicken) 3 sides( baked mac and cheese, potato salad, and collard greens) and two desserts( sweet potato pie and pumpkin pie). Simple. I found a mac and cheese recipe I’m going to try and while in search I found quite a few amazing Thanksgiving recipes for both food and drink I’d love to share with you. I’ve been wanting to try The Rock’s tequila brand, Teramana. He has a great recipe for a Fall themed cocktail. I look forward to seeing your creations across social media this week. Im in charge of the side dishes this year, as I am every year. This is the recipe I’m going to use for my own baked mac and cheese this year. I’m feeling the panko-parm topping. I’ve never done that and I’m looking to try something new.


My mom is head of the meat in our house. No one tells her how to make her food, unless you’re looking for a fight. However, she has agreed to let me make the oven stuffer for New Years Day(ok, I haven’t asked her yet but she will🤞🏽). We are skipping turkey this year and will be doing an oven stuffer chicken.To keep her happy, I’m sticking to a simple recipe by a cook whose recipes I’ve used before. The ingredients are minimal as is the timing. In my house, we don’t eat anything but the Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving Day. The kids snack as we prep but we wait and eat as a family at the table.


Speaking of Little Spice Jar,I actually found this recipe on the IG page. Avery loves apples lately and he was bored with regular sliced apples so I tried this. I even got Shug in the kitchen to help me,which she never does. Once again, it was easy. It can be used as pie filling, though I’d suggest not cooking apples until their too soft because after that they’re going in the oven. You don’t want overcooked apples in the pie.


The Rock is one of my favorite people in the world. He was the first wrester I watched on WWF in 1997. He was the reason I switched from WCW. I’ve enjoyed watching him branch out and enjoy success in other businesses. I was pleased to hear he was had a tequila brand,Teramana.The name combines two words that are meaningful. ‘TERE’ derived from the Latin ‘terra’ meaning earth and ‘MANA’, the Polynesian word which mans spirit – Teremana is the “Spirit of the Earth”. I love that the Rock incorporated his Samoan heritage into a brand. He does that quite a bit,which is great. All the more reason to get drunk off this recipe he demonstrates himself. Even if you don’t like the drink, just watching him in that shirt making the drink is worth the watch. If you follow him on Instagram, he has videos of other people making drinks with the tequila, which comes in reposado and blanco.
